Choctaw Indian Princess Pageant

2019-2020 Choctaw Indian Princess
Elisah Monique Jimmie

Elisah Monique Jimmie is the 19-year-old daughter of Karla Keats and Elijah & Natasha Jimmie all of the Pearl River community. Elisah has 10 siblings: twin brother Asa, Katie, Brighton, Kazden, Brennan, Kobe, Eliyah, Emilayton, Tehya and Eiyana. Her maternal grandmother is Lois Keats; her paternal grandparents are Mack Jimmie, Jr. and Trudy Jimmie all of the Pearl River community. Her great-grandparents are the late Nettie Sam Tubby of Pearl River and the late Champ & Mary Morris of the Bogue Chitto community. A 2018 graduate of Choctaw Central High School, Elisah will be a Sophomore this fall at East Central Community College where she is a member of the Wall o’ Sound Band, Native American Club and Warrior Corp Team. She hopes to one day enter the field of Nutrition Science.

Elisah enjoys attending culture night with the Chahta Alla Youth Group, which is a night designed to teach the youth Choctaw arts and traditional food preparation. She also enjoys traveling to other places to meet people and taste different foods. Elisah loves to dance – she says dancing is a way to express her happiness. Her favorite Choctaw tradition is traditional outside cooking. Cooking has been one of the favorite pastimes of our people. Preparing food over an open fire gives the food a unique taste that many people love. It is at the fire where stories are shared, our native language is spoken and families are united. Elisah wears a beaded rose corsage to honor her grandmothers and tribal elders who have taught her to continue our Choctaw traditions.
